On Saturday, February 4, 2023, pro-lifers are conducting a nationwide protest at CVS and Walgreen pharmacies for their intention to begin dispensing abortion pills.
Are these protests a good idea? Will they succeed in stopping the expansion of abortion? Will the pro-life movement have the commitment to pressure these corporations over the long run?
The fact is boycotts and protests against corporations are about endurance. These campaigns are also about modulating conflict and leveraging resources. We need to be wise as serpents.
In the recent past, Created Equal was successful for a time in achieving a positive outcome against Stericycle with our Project Weak Link campaign. But Stericycle waited us out and interest in the pressure campaign waned amongst our pro-life troops. Unfortunately, Stericycle still hauls away dead corpses of unborn babies.
Large companies are hardened targets and difficult to motivate because they are often willing to tolerate boycotts and protests until they affect their reputation and bottom line.
This campaign must be able to last over months and years using few resources. If that doesn’t happen – this effort will likely fail. Why? Because when pro-life advocates don’t see results (a pharmacy refusing to sell the abortion pill) human nature sets in and they go home.

Last September California Governor Gavin Newsom’s campaign paid to promote abortion via public billboards in seven states, including Ohio. Some of these billboards said, “Ohio doesn’t own your body. You do.” Newsom also posted billboards using the words of Jesus to invite people to travel to California for abortions. The scripture Newsom used was, “Love your neighbor as yourself. There is no commandment greater than these.” - Mark 12:31
In response to Newsom’s blasphemous billboards, a coalition of pro-life organizations is placing billboards in the same locations as Newsom posted his pro-abortion billboards. One such billboard is in Columbus, OH.

Laws around parenthood are rapidly changing. Mothers and fathers are now considered legally optional, and biology is being replaced by “intent” to parent. Functionally, that makes children commodities to be cut and pasted into any/every adult relationship. Unlike adoption, which seeks to protect children by requiring adults to undergo vetting and screening prior to placement, new parenthood laws award children to whichever adult has the money and means to acquire them. And that is an injustice that puts both individual children, as well as all of society, at risk.
In the first half of today’s episode, Mark talks with Katy Faust, Founder and Director of Them Before Us. Katy is married to a pastor and is a mother of four children, the youngest of whom is adopted from China.
The University of California accepts millions of dollars each year in tax funding that supplies a steady stream of late-term fetal organs from pain-capable and viable children. These children are dismembered nearly half of the time without being euthanized. Research suggests that this results in born-alive infants in 50% of the cases.
In the latter half of today’s episode, Mark gets an update from AJ Hurley from Survivors of the Abortion Holocaust who is leading the effort to expose these atrocities.
